Overcoming Anxiety through Community

Anxiety can feel isolating, but healing often begins when we step into community. I'll never forget the many moments when I struggled and was able to go to my community and talk about it. Instead of judgment, I found encouragement. They prayed for me and the situation. My people reminded me that I wasn't alone.

God uses community to bring healing and hope. James 5:16 says to "confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results" (NLT). When we talk about what's going on in our lives with others and pray for each other, we experience healing!

Here are a few areas you can find community to help you overcome anxiety:

Small Groups or Bible Studies.

Check with your local church and see if any small groups or Bible studies are meeting. Joining a group like this can provide a wonderful place to share your concerns and thoughts and receive prayer from others.

Trusted Friends and Family.

Identify the people in your life with whom you feel comfortable sharing. This is more about quality over quantity. Having a few trusted friends and family members as your safe place is key!

Church Family.

If you haven't joined a small group or Bible study at your church, just being a part of a Worship Experience can do wonders for your soul. Getting into a community where you can talk to people one-on-one is essential, but attending church and participating in worship is a great start!

Leaning on others can lighten the load and bring clarity to the chaos. You don't have to face anxiety by yourself. Let others walk with you!
