Overcoming Anxiety through Counseling

Take a Step Back.

Take a step back and examine your thoughts. Then, challenge negative ones and align them with God's truth. Question irrational fears and balance them with rational perspectives. For example: What evidence do you have to support your thoughts? Is there any evidence contrary to your thoughts and feelings? Is there a different way of viewing the situation?

Practice Mindfulness.

Stay present in the moment and focus on your breath. Psychologically, this can help calm the mind; spiritually, it connects you to God's peace. Meditating on God's truth and promises can have a similar effect. 

Take Care of Your Physical Health.

Sleep, exercise, and eat well. Your body and mind are deeply connected. Taking care of your body is caring for God's temple. God modeled and commanded engaging in rest in the Bible.
