How to Establish a Self-Care Routine
Self-care is essential, and we don't always do a great job implementing it. Whether it's a busy schedule, too many responsibilities, or interruptions, there always seems to be something in the way of caring for ourselves!
To truly care for others, we must first take care of ourselves. If we want to care for ourselves, we have to be intentional. We must purpose in our minds to do something for us.
If you're looking for some simple ways to establish a self-care routine, try these easy steps:
Identify what energizes you.
What makes you happy? What brings you energy? Identify the activities or things that bring you joy. These can be things like spending time with friends, shopping, going to a theme park, or watching a good movie.
Identify what refreshes you.
After a long day, what is your "go-to" move? What refreshes you? Identify the activities or things that bring you rest. These can be things like sleep, a walk outdoors, reading a book, or coloring.
Intentionally set aside time to do these things every day.
Whatever makes you feel good and allows you to pour into yourself, do more of it! We recommend finding a way to care for yourself every day. However, study your schedule and see what time you have available for self-care, even if it's a few times a week! Most importantly, we are intentional about scheduling time for ourselves.
