The Role of Faith in Mental Health Recovery
If you're struggling with your mental health, one of the best things you can do is remember your faith. Here are some ways to focus on faith:
Read your Bible.
Find a quiet space to sit down and read your Bible. Highlight verses that stand out to you or write notes in the margins. Focus on the quality of your reading, not the quantity, meaning you don't have to read a lot at once as long as you're getting something beneficial from your reading.
Pray.
Take time to talk to God. Prayer is a conversation, so make sure you also leave time to listen to what God has to say. Write down anything you think you hear from Him for easy reminders.
Journal.
As you read and pray, write down what stands out to you. Write out your emotions or anything else you need to get off your chest or process. Journaling is a great and safe way to externalize our feelings, and it also helps us see the transformation God has brought us through as we look back at old entries.
Focusing on faith may look different for everyone, but give these things a try, and let us know how it impacts your mindset!
