Self-Care Strategy
One of the most important things to know when creating a self-care routine is that there are many ways to care for yourself. Self-care is split into seven different pillars:
Mental health - a healthy mindset and thought-life
Emotional health - healthy strategies to cope with stressors
Physical health - rest, nutrition, and exercise
Environmental health - the health of the places around you
Spiritual health - cultivating a sense of meaning and purpose
Recreational health - hobbies and activities you enjoy
Social health - healthy relationships, connections, and boundaries
With these many pillars, we have various options for the best care for ourselves! Here are a few tips on implementing a self-care routine in your life.
Check-in with yourself every single day.
Go through the seven pillars of self-care and ask yourself daily, "What do I need in this area?" Then, make a plan to do something that will refresh you in the areas where you are depleted.
Know that self-care doesn't have to be monetary.
Taking care of yourself doesn't mean you must get a massage or spend a ton of money on a shopping spree (although if that's what you need, go for it!). Self-care can be completely free! Try reading a book, taking a hot bath, or listening to worship music.
Be intentional about planning your self-care time.
When you decide to implement self-care, add it to your calendar like you would an appointment or anything important. If you schedule it on your calendar, you're more likely to do it!
Try these tips, and let us know how they work for you!
