Self-Care for your Spirit
Taking care of ourselves isn't just about bubble baths and Netflix. These are great, but self-care is also about nurturing our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
When you make time for activities like meditation, prayer, or therapy, you're not just looking after yourself but also nurturing a connection to something bigger than yourself. Here are three things you can do to take care of your physical, emotional, and spiritual health:
Set boundaries.
It's okay to say, "No." Set healthy boundaries for yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually. This could look like knowing what to put in your body, deciding what information you will and won't share online, and how often you want to serve at your local church.
Practice self-compassion.
Give yourself grace. We all make mistakes, and we all make mistakes in different areas! There may be seasons where your emotional and spiritual health thrives, but your spiritual health does not. There may be times when you're doing fantastic at all three and times when you're struggling. No matter where you are, practice self-compassion while making a game plan to pursue health.
Prioritize activities that bring you joy.
What do you enjoy doing? Do more of it! Find some time every day, even if it's only 5 minutes, to do an activity that brings you joy. Cook, color, exercise, or grab a meal with a friend. Practicing self-care daily through enjoyable activities will help keep you physically, emotionally, and spiritually healthy!
By practicing these three things, you're taking care of your own needs and honoring your life's sacredness. Self-care is all about living authentically and finding meaning in every moment.
