Practicing Mindful Eating
Mindful eating is all about being aware of how and why we eat. It's about understanding what we need for our bodies to ensure they are well-nourished and well-taken care of. It's also about understanding our personal emotional triggers that can sometimes lead to poor, unhealthy eating habits.
The next time you sit down for a meal or when you're about to have a snack, try practicing mindful eating. Ask yourself these questions:
Am I really hungry?
Am I eating to nourish my body, or am I eating for another reason?
What am I feeling right now?
Am I sad, angry, or stressed? Am I eating to make myself "feel better"?
Is this meal going to nourish my body and serve it well?
Will what I'm about to eat help or harm my body? What is a better alternative to what I'm about to eat?
