How to Trust God with Your Mental Health

If you want to focus on your mental health this year, you're not alone! One of the best ways to start the new year is by trusting God with your mental health journey. Why is this important? Trusting God means surrendering control; when we surrender control, we're letting go of weights we were never meant to carry. We let go and allow God and His peace to guide us.

If you're looking for some practical ways to trust God with your mental health this year, try these tips:

Pray about what's on your heart.

If it matters to you, it matters to God. Whatever is on your mind or heart, pray about it! Prayer doesn't have to be a long, drawn-out performance; it's simply conversing with God throughout your day. Praying to God about what you're thinking about will take a load off of your mind.

Reflect on Scriptures that remind you of God's faithfulness.

Sometimes, we need a simple reminder of how faithful God is. This can do wonders for our mental health! Consider reading verses about God's faithfulness daily:

"Your unfailing love, O Lord, is as vast as the heavens; your faithfulness reaches beyond the clouds." - Psalm 36:5 NLT

"The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning." - Lamentations 3:22-23 NLT

"Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps His covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes His unfailing love on those who love Him and obey His commands." - Deuteronomy 7:9 NLT

Practice gratitude daily.

Practicing gratitude reminds us of the blessings God has graciously given us. Focusing on the positive helps our mental health because we have a perspective of gratitude and abundance instead of desire and lack.

You don't have to tackle your mental health journey alone. Lean on God, and lean on those around you who have your best interest in mind. You are loved!
