How to Find Hope in Depression

If you feel hopeless, know this: there is always hope. Depression can have a way of clouding our judgment and keeping us trapped in dark, lonely cycles. Still, hope is possible. If you’re needing some hope today, try these five practices:

Turn to God in Prayer.

Take time to pray. Begin by bringing your struggles to God, then ask Him to remind you of who He is and the hope He brings. Trust that He hears your prayers and is with you in the darkest moments.

Meditate on Scripture.

God’s Word is a source of hope and healing. Find Bible verses that bring hope. If you don’t know where to start, Google “Bible verses about hope.”

Surround Yourself with Support.

Seek out a community of believers who can encourage and pray with you. God often works through others to uplift and provide strength during difficult times.

Practice Gratitude.

Find small moments of gratitude each day. Bonus: Write down the things you’re grateful for so you can go back and reflect on the extra difficult days.

Hold on to God’s Promises.

Remember that depression does not define you. God’s plans for your life include healing, restoration, and hope.
