Practicing Gratitude for What You Have

It's the time of the year when we put a larger emphasis on thankfulness and gratitude. We try our best to center our thoughts on thankfulness during this season, and if we're being honest, sometimes, it can be difficult.

What happens when we try to be thankful but we're also aware of the desire for more?

Here's the truth: You can want more while still being thankful for what you have. Gratitude can coexist with the desire for more.

There's nothing wrong with wanting more, but here's the key: When you're seeking more, working hard to get more, or praying for more, you must still find it in your heart to be content with what you have.

For example, recognizing you need a bigger or better functioning vehicle is a rational desire. Still, while wanting this new car and working towards it, you can be thankful for the vehicle that you have.

Whatever the case, it's okay to want more while still finding contentment and expressing gratitude for what you have.
