Experiencing God's Strength in Our Weakness
"Each time He said, 'My grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.' So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me." - 2 Corinthians 12:9 NLT
What came to mind when you read the word "weakness"?
Contrary to what you might think, "weakness" is more than physical inability. This word can relate to spiritual, mental, or emotional weakness.
Also, contrary to what you might think, "weakness" isn't a derogatory term. Overall, weakness can mean exhaustion or depletion. If you're feeling emotionally depleted, mentally exhausted, or spiritually overwhelmed, don't worry--we've been there, too, and there's hope!
When we feel this way, we often isolate ourselves, turn inward, and refuse to accept help from others. However, if you want to see God's strength in your weakness, we encourage you to do the opposite of what's listed above. We encourage you to cry out to God.
Start by thanking God.
Before asking for anything from God, we want to thank Him for what He's already done for us and what He's already given us. Start by thanking God for who He is and what He's done in your life!
Ask God for His strength.
The key to this is HIS strength. Human strength is limited. Even the strongest person in the world can only take so much physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally. However, God's strength is endless, so even when it doesn't make sense, God's strength prevails--and as a believer in Jesus, you have access to this strength, too!
Ask God to reframe your thoughts.
Instead of focusing on the areas you're weak and feeling embarrassed or failed by them, focus on God's supernatural grace, strength, and ability. Reframe your thoughts to focus on the opportunities for growth, boundaries, and rest. Thank God that He is walking with you every step of the way, and you will be better in the future because of what you're learning this season.
If you're struggling to find motivation to keep going during this season, I hope you know that you don't have to do it in your own strength. Depend on God and His strength, and you'll make it through!
