Suicide Awareness & Prevention: Having a Solid Support System

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month, and we want to resource you with the tools you need to assist friends or family members struggling with suicidal thoughts.

One of the best ways to prevent suicide is having a solid support system. As a friend or family member of someone struggling with suicidal thoughts, your involvement in their life matters!

Check-in with your friends and family periodically. Encourage them to see mental health professionals. All of these actions will help them build a solid support system.

What if I don't have a solid support system?

If you are dealing with suicidal thoughts and don't have a solid support system, here are a few things you can do:

Reach out to mental health professionals. These professionals can be a part of your support system and help you with some skills to build a support system with friends and family.

Reach out to an old friend or colleague. If no one is checking up on you, you still have the ability to check in with someone else! If you're struggling, don't remain silent. Find someone, and tell them.

Remember: You have so much value, and you are cared for! Don't do life alone. We are here for you if you need someone to talk to. Call our team at 321-426-0359.
